A Hadith study group in DHA
Al Hamdulir-Rahmaan, alladhi 'allamal-Quran wa salawaatuhu ala nabiyyih.
Thought I should report on the other evening classes that take place in my locality of DHA. This is a study group dedicated to the reading of Riyaad-us-Saaliheen. It is mostly direct reading along with some linguistic analysis offered personally by the reader. I don't know what "flavour" of thought he follows though.
We studied the chapter on "...Keeping oneself hungry..." in which I was quite surprised to find a hadith from Bukhari where Abu Hurairah declines an invitation of a people. The people were roasting a whole goat/sheep and he declined on the basis that the Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wasallam) never ate more than 2 (or was it 3) days consecutively his fill of barley bread.
Anyone care to refer this to Sh. Kehlan as to how we reconcile this with the issue of not declining the invitation of a Muslim brother? This is supposed to be Ch. 56 of Riyad-us-Saliheen. Or maybe Abu Eesa and the tullab may wish to hazard an explanation. In this case many an invitation I should have decilned in the past.
Insha'Allah I expect to be attending at least this circle more regularly.
Another question:فرق بين تبذيرو اسراف (diff. between tabdheer & israaf)
In our fajar Qur'an circle an interesting question was raised: "What (if any) is the difference between tabdheer (as in 17:26-27) and israaf (as in 7:31)?" I'll await your answers and insha'Allah attempt to contribute to those nuggets of knowledge I'm sure you anxiously collect.
Aside
The Asar Adhaan echoes in my room remindnig me I must shoot. But before that, al hamdulillah wa ma sha Allah, my internet connection has been upgraded to a 128 kbps broadband. That's what you can expect for 12 quid a month here (excl. cost of the modem and installation). The max you get here is a 318 kbps ... so be thankful to Allah for your gigabyte connection.
wassalamu alaikum
Abdullah
